Slow Start To Spring Season

Unfortunately, the first two matches for DWR spring season had to be cancelled.  The first match, against Towson, was cancelled due to their field flooding. Still pumped for a game, the girls had a workout session Saturday morning; what proof of their love and dedication! The match for March 10th was not played because of a miscommunication with Salisbury that revealed a clash in their scheduling, and no other team was available to play that weekend.  Our president and match coordinator tried hard to bring a team to Drexel for what would have been our first home game, but unlucky circumstances won out.

Despite these fallbacks, the team is still practicing hard and gearing up for the game against American University on April 7th.  The team is also preparing for the Relay for Life fundraiser, April 14th, by designing team t-shirts and showing Invictus for a movie night.  All in all, this may be a slow start to our spring season, but the team is still excited and ready for what April will bring.

Peace, Love, Rugby

Support DWR’s Relay for Life Team!

This is our second year putting together a Relay for Life team. If you are not familiar with Relay for Life, it is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer research. The idea is to raise money as a team and then perform in a walking relay which lasts all night. Last year we came in third with about $2,500 donated, losing only to two Pike teams who host/run the event each year. We want to beat the amount we donated last year and we know we can do it with your help! You can visit our Relay for Life web page here. Thank you for your help and support!

Congratulations to the new board and the new chairs of the Drexel Women’s Rugby Team!
